Britannia Lanes, founded 50 years ago, is a well-respected name in the removals and storage industry. Our dedication to providing quality and reliable home and business moving services has built a strong reputation in the South West.

Our history

Lanes Storage and Removals Ltd began its journey in 1974 originally offering just storage in a warehouse in Launceston, Cornwall. Soon after this the addition of our first removal vehicle changed the direction of the company’s future and would mark the beginning of the service we are best known for, removals. The business quickly grew which led to the relocation of the depot to Truro, the same site we remain on today.

In 1990 the family were approached by the national group of family-led removal companies – Britannia Movers. Becoming part of this co-operative gained us access to an in-house shipping division, larger-scale corporate customers and most importantly the value of a like-minded network of people across the UK. Joining Britannia signified the company trading and becoming best known as Britannia Lanes.

Recent years have seen us focusing on expanding our Self Storage facilities across the South West with the addition of sites in Falmouth, Hayle and St Austell with future plans for sites in Devon.

Our move with Britannia
All very polite and explained everything clearly. A bit bodge like on some of the ‘pitting back together again’ of furniture I’m afraid as we still have a wardrobe and chest of drawers we can’t use. Missing rail from one …. Probably end of the day and they were tiring … it was a long job …. But, as I said both teams were polite, friendly and generally careful.

We moved over 400 miles within the UK. Brittania Lanes packed everything up and reassembled furniture at the other end. The service made the move pretty seamless and their communication was consistent, professional and helpful throughout. Getting a quote for the move was very easy and everything was explained very well. And accepting that quote and arranging for the packing, loading and delivery was seamless. They answered all my questions promptly and the MoveProtect insurance policies were very thorough and reasonable - though I didn’t need to claim anything on the insurance because it all arrived safely.
