Britannia Lanes, founded 50 years ago, is a well-respected name in the removals and storage industry. Our dedication to providing quality and reliable home and business moving services has built a strong reputation in the South West.

Our history

Lanes Storage and Removals Ltd began its journey in 1974 originally offering just storage in a warehouse in Launceston, Cornwall. Soon after this the addition of our first removal vehicle changed the direction of the company’s future and would mark the beginning of the service we are best known for, removals. The business quickly grew which led to the relocation of the depot to Truro, the same site we remain on today.

In 1990 the family were approached by the national group of family-led removal companies – Britannia Movers. Becoming part of this co-operative gained us access to an in-house shipping division, larger-scale corporate customers and most importantly the value of a like-minded network of people across the UK. Joining Britannia signified the company trading and becoming best known as Britannia Lanes.

Recent years have seen us focusing on expanding our Self Storage facilities across the South West with the addition of sites in Falmouth, Hayle and St Austell with future plans for sites in Devon.

Utilising resources built over the last 5 decades from state-of-the-art facilities, a modern fleet of 40 vehicles and most importantly a dedicated team, offering a premium removal service remains at the heart of the Lane family. We moved over 400 miles within the UK. Brittania Lanes packed everything up and reassembled furniture at the other end. The service made the move pretty seamless and their communication was consistent, professional and helpful throughout. Getting a quote for the move was very easy and everything was explained very well. And accepting that quote and arranging for the packing, loading and delivery was seamless. They answered all my questions promptly and the MoveProtect insurance policies were very thorough and reasonable - though I didn’t need to claim anything on the insurance because it all arrived safely.

They lightened the load in more ways than one.
Having had a number of deadlines to meet, dates were all important. We had asked a quite companies for quotes, for one reason or another they went by the by but Britannia came good for us. Easy online application, calls from Vicky in the office to arrange things, a visit from Lee who carried out the a most professional, accurate survey and the Lads who turned up and did the business. Luke, Shane and Dan. On the hottest week of the year so far they loaded up with a smile, a good line in banter making a very stressful situation a lot lighter and lifted our spirits. From getting their large truck into our road that is tight for a van they had loaded in no time. A quick shift to the back of the house they cleared the garage, including two motorcycles. Shane took amazing care of everything especially the securing of the motorcycles. The following morning, 370 miles north and there they were. Just Shane and Dan this time but they resumed the banter and got on with the unloading. Considering the temperature these guys were fantastic and we have only praise for them. They added a massive element of fun to the whole process. All our possessions safe and not the slightest thing damaged. To be fair to prospective customers Britannia were the most expensive of all quotes but by the end they were worth every penny. Recommended. Thank you.
